You are showing a good range of distressing techniques, and hopefully you're learning to manipulate them.
A comment I made in class was that the patchwork quilt approach is quite common. What innovation and creativity can you bring to the work to make it more your own?
this sounds great. Really 'Ellie like' element attached to the materials and techniques and sounds like it will really come together nicely.
I am interested however in how your final piece will come together? Will you be submitting it as a deconstructed quilt, or are you reinforcing it in the finishing process?
ready what you have written the process you are taking for this assignment sounds really interesting. I am very interested in the way you will be destructing the quilt and i like the fact that it isnt piece by piece but i think this might make destruction quite hard.
could you possibly destruct the way the quilt is constructed? working with altering the traditional techniques of creating this type of quilt.
Ellie, your samples look great. I really like the direction you have decide to take with the eco dyeing, as this is a major technique in your works in the past. This is a good thing as I believe that when you discover a technique that you love to work with and are good at, as an artist you should stick down this path. Keep the eco dyeing up! Much like what has been said above, my concern lies in the way that you are going to present your final piece. Even if you want to stick with the quilt idea (which i actually think is really beautiful and would have an interesting impact), maybe the way that you install it and present to us as a class could be your process of 'being innovative'. I just don't want all your hard work to go unappreciated just because of the way it was ultimately presented.
Ellie, loving your samples! I think the dyes are really effective and I love the colour choices, I am also really interested in your plaster samples and I am pleased that you have decided to continue on with this experimentation. The rust over dye is also a really interesting element that I haven’t seen used much in our class so good on you for exploring that element. I think that the screen-printing technique is one that can be developed further to produce bolder and more striking results! But this initial sample are very you and it is exciting to see that that connection between you and the work you produce.
